Big Fat Brass: The Album that molded the 60th
Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole … everyone worked with organizer Billy May, who is now devoted an entire concert based on the mythical album Big Fat Brass. With one of the world’s premier trumpeter, Mike Lovatt, celebrates with brass musicians from the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra Billy May in a full-time concert.
Grammy Award-winning album Big Fat Brass from 1958, the middle of May’s flourishing career as a studio musician, soloist, bandmaster and composer, is centre stage. Aside from a host of solo projects, May collaborated with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller and Nat King Cole, and in the 1960s and 70s, he also wrote music for films and TV series. May’s musical versatility and skill as an arranger are brought to life once again by Mike Lovatt, a virtuoso and cross-genre musician, and the brass musicians of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
